The research focus of W.I.R.E. is on long-term developments and trends in business, society and the life sciences, as well as their consequences for science and practical applications. On the basis of an interdisciplinary approach to research, the think tank deals primarily with topics that cannot be classified to a single research discipline. The aim of creating links between the humanities, the natural sciences and economics is to produce new and relevant information.
Located at the interface of academic research and practice, W.I.R.E. is a laboratory for the development and assessment of new research methods, such as concepts for the dissemination of knowledge. The basis for this is the abolition of the traditional division between scientific disciplines and the abandonment of hierarchical concepts when defining relevant knowledge.
